Olive is still alive!

Hey guys! Olive here!!

First of all, let me apologize for both myself and Cossy, we've been super busy this school year. Let me elaborate. Cossy is enjoying herself by being part of her school newspaper! And I am not-so-much enjoying myself by working at a local movie theater, and I use the term local lightly.  The difference between these two amazing experiences? I get paid for mine, and Cossy gets her name (REAL MIND YOU) published in a *school* newspaper!

Personal, I'd rather have my name put in a newspaper!

Besides working and school, I've also been preparing myself for college next fall. And if that one sentence wasn't clear enough, I'm old guys. I've also been taking a photography class. (My first EVER!) I have some pictures that are worthy of your sight:

Not only have I been working *very little actually* on my photography but I'm preparing for NANOWRIMO. yay! Yep, it's November again (in a week!), and I'll be working towards that 50,000 words while working on my ACT and working at like my job. Both are majorly required of me. I mean I could quit working at the theater, but I kind of like it. Plus I get free movies. ;) Nevertheless, I will get 50k this year!

I'm also am going to be doing some self promotion here for a sec. Sorry not sorry. I mean I updated you guys, right? RIGHT??

I recently opened a photography shop, on the lovely etsy, and did some test prints! My first 3 buyers/testers are actually happy with my pictures, imagine that! But no one is actually buying anything. People have said, 'Oh I love that picture, I'd love to buy it' and then they don't. Which I don't really mind, but could you at least pretend to order!

Anyways. I'll leave the links after I show off a couple more pictures and then you guys can continue ignoring me. :)

Please keep in mind, that Cossy and I love you readers dearly. We miss blogging (well I do,) and we hope to be back up and running soon!

TWO ROADS Cover Reveal!

Hey guys! I know it's been awhile since we posted last, but I think I was just doing that to build up suspense! ;)

This is the first time we've ever done anything like this, so I'm nervous and excited! About a month ago, I did a Q&A with my friend L.M. Augustine, who wrote Click to Subscribe, and now he has a new book coming out in August called Two Roads! Here is the blurb for it:

"The only person poetry-loving Cali Monroe hates more than herself is Logan Waters, the geeky kid who lives in the dorm building next to hers.

Ever since Cali's parents told her she would amount to nothing, she has felt entirely inadequate. Friendless and alone, she takes on the mean girl role in hopes it will make her feel better--and Logan serves as the perfect target. He infuriates her with his obnoxiously long lashes, his all too perfect dimpled smile, and his complete lack of personality outside of his intelligence. It doesn't hurt that he's part of the reason her brother is dead, either. So Cali hates him, and he returns the favor. Thus, their prank-filled, insult-driven rivalry is born, and torturing Logan quickly becomes the highlight of her life.

But when Cali's parents set them up on a blind date, she begins to realize Logan might not be as boring as she always thought. He shares her love of poetry, takes a sadistic pleasure in making fun of crepes, and he makes her blush when he calls her smile pretty.

And hey, maybe those long lashes of his aren't that obnoxious after all…

Two Roads is New Adult Romance about finding love, standing out, and learning to embrace who you are. It contains some language and mild sexual content."

DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THIS BOOK??? I AM REALLY EXCITED AND IF YOU'RE NOT EXCITED AFTER READING THAT DESCRIPTION THEN I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY YOU'RE NOT EXCITED.

Okay. Calm now. Are you all ready for the cover?

I flailed to death when I saw it.

I mean, it's pretty freaking great.

The person who made it did a really good job.

A+.

Okay I'm just stalling. READY. THREE. TWO. ONEEEEEE

BAM! Isn't it beautiful?! Wowie. What a cover. What a story. What a guy. L.M. is who I want to be in my next life. You can add this book on Goodreads here, and you can add L.M.'s first book, Click to Subscribe, there! Reminder! Here are the places you can find him:
Hope you guys enjoyed this, and I'll see you next time! :)

Update Nano

Hello everyone! Olive here.

I know you're all probably getting tired of hearing from me, you all are used to Cossy, but you'll get over it. :)
Today is a small post, considering the fact that I should be writing, but I'm not. This is pretty much going to be a small update for both Cossy and I, and how our Camp NaNo's are going so far.

Olive ~ word count: 3405 pages: 27 chapters: 5
so far it's going. I think my characters bonded a little bit too soon, but it's workable. Finally figured out how fast I want it to move along, so it's actually going a tiny bit to slow for me, but it's at a pace where I don't feel like it's problem after problem, it's problem, time, problem, time, problem. At least, I think it is.

Costello ~word count: i don't even know i'm not keeping track
I've decided to not write anything this Camp. I tried, but it just wasn't working out. I'm working on rewriting and revising the novel I wrote back in November, which is slowly going. It needs a lot of TLC, but I think it'll turn out okay in the long run. I'm also using Scrivener, which is an incredible software and I like it a lot. You can download the free trial here, and if you participate in Camp this year and win, you get 50% off the software when you buy it, making it only $20!

Write on, my friends, and happy Camp Nano!

-Olive and Cossy

P.S., we're almost at 4,000 page views! That's insane! Thank you to everyone, and make sure you spread the word! :)

Q&A With L.M. Augustine!

Hi guys! Costello here. I recently talked with a friend of mine, a newly published author. Allow me to introduce to you L.M. Augustine! His debut novel Click to Subscribe hit the e-book shelves in May. I asked him a few questions about his book and writing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What encouraged you to start writing?

L.M. - I always loved reading and so one day, I just decided to go for it and start writing my own stories. It took me a while before I began writing seriously, but there was no trigger for me other than waking up one morning and deciding it was time to finally write a full novel. So it was reading other people's books that encouraged me to write my own.

How old were you when you started writing?

L.M. - I think I was about six! I wrote a story about an epic battle between fruit and vegetables at the time (don't ask) and it was awful, but it was tons of fun to write.

Do you have any writing role models?

L.M. - I have always been a fan of authors like John Green and Cornelia Funke, and just recently I've been inspired by Colleen Hoover as well!

How does it feel to be a published author?

L.M. - Well, I was hoping it would give me superpowers, but that didn't happen. It feels great, though. It's nerve-wracking, but it's a totally amazing feeling to know you have a book out in the world and some people are reading and enjoying it.

What do you do to deal with Writer's Block?

L.M. - I just take a break. I used to try to fight through it, but it only made both my writing and sanity suffer, so nowadays I either take a break from writing the book for a few days or I skip to the next scene and come back later. It has worked well!

Tell us about Click to Subscribe, your first published novel.

L.M. - The blurb is:

135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.

As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I *heart* Sam Green" T-shirt Harper promised she'd have on.

To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him.

How long did it take you to write Click?

L.M. - Only a few weeks, actually! I'm a naturally fast writer and Click just flowed. It took me a month afterward to do revisions and everything, of course.

Do you find you write better during the day, or are you a night owl?

L.M. - I'm a total night owl! People say you're more creative when you're tired, and it totally rings true for me.

Do you have any tips for young writers?

L.M. - Start off writing a book or so purely for yourself. You don't want to rush to try and get your work published right away, and I've found that writing some books just for yourself helps you hone your craft and learn about both your stories and writing your abilities. Then, once you write a book you feel especially confident in, get critiques on it, maybe query agents if you want to go that route, and slowly work toward whatever your ultimate writing goal is, publication or something else. Basically: don't rush it. Do what works for you.

Do you have any tips for writing romance?

L.M. - I'd say don't try to force it. Romance in real life shouldn't be forced and neither should it in books; make sure you have a natural progression and the characters' romance feels true to themselves and to the story.

What do you hope to get out of your writing?

L.M. - Ideally, I'd like to make a living out of it--doing what you love as a job sounds pretty incredible--but for now, I'm just so happy to be able to write the stories I love and have a few people who want to read them, too.

Do you write while listening to music? If so, what are your favorite noveling tunes?

L.M. - Yes! I love Gone Gone Gone by Phillip Phillips.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And there you have it, folks! Thank you Liam for doing this, he's absolutely wonderful! Also, I've read Click, and it's a really great read. You can find his blog here, his Twitter, his Facebook page, and his Goodreads page for Click!

He's selling signed print copies as well, for $9.99 + $3.99 shipping (USD), but he's only got twenty at the moment, so hurry!

We're also helping out with the cover reveal for his next book, Two Roads, a NA fiction, so stay tuned for that! ;)

Hope you all enjoyed this! We may do more, if we find more authors. Until then!

Dark pictures for you.

Hi guys! Olive here again! Cossy has returned from a lovely vacation, but I'm giving her a couple more days to recover from sweet bliss.* I know you guys are missing her, mainly because I'm boring, but I think you can survive a couple more random posts. Today is short, but I have a couple images for you guys.

Now, before you guys start wondering, no that is not the sun set (or sun rise for that matter). In fact this was taken right before it stormed, and what you don't see is the top of a roof. I darkened this image, just for the purpose of showing off the tiny piece of sunlight that was left before the sky went dark.

This was taken in the full sun on an afternoon about 2pm. I darkened this as well, to showcase how BRIGHT the sky is, and how the trees indeed have a shadow.

This was also darkened, and taken shortly after a summer rain. It was darkened VERY little, and only done so to bring out the color a little more, and make the rain drops a little more obvious.

I hope you guys enjoy these images! I sure enjoyed taking them, as always :)
Tune in this week for some special posts!
~Olive

P.S. ~ thank you for the comment, I love hearing from you :)

*Cossy was feeling a little sick on the trip home, so she'll join us tomorrow or Monday with a special post.

Summer

Hello everyone, Olive here :)

So Cossy is away for a week of sweet bliss, and it is wonderful, I think. She gets to get away from everything for a short while, and sometimes we just need that moment. Luckily for me, I'll get my week too, only this August. So till then, you guys get to enjoy a couple days (which turns into weeks, months and years if we're lucky) of me actually blogging! Who knew it was possible?

Anyways, Camp NaNo is coming up! Who's excited? Who's got an idea? Who's ready?

I'm excited! because:
I have an idea! finally, which means:
I'm ready! can't wait to start writing.

But during the month of July I will also be *gasp* social, and *gasp again* actually (hopefully) doing a bunch of stuff photography wise. Don't worry guys, I'll share some of my images with you as they turn up! I'll also share some pieces of my Camp NaNo if you guys are extra nice and leave some comments :) Or I'll just share some because I can, who knows!

I must depart now.
More later~

I'm going on an adventure!

Hey guys! Costello here. Sorry for our absence! I don't really have an excuse for it, except that we've just been procrastinating... I may have been playing Minecraft.

Anyway! I'm going on a trip! Yep! A friend of mine and her family invited me to go with them to the beach for a week! We're gonna stay in their RV, so that should be fun. ^_^

I'm really excited because I've never been where we're going before, and it'll be the longest time I've been away from home! I know, that's lame, but this is a super big deal for me. I'm also staying with people I haven't stayed with before, so I'm just going to experience all sorts of new things! Amongst other things, I'm bringing my camera, so there will be a lot of pictures (I promise!), and I'm bringing my journal and my ukulele for maximum levels of fun.

That means that I, unfortunately, won't be posting. Hopefully Olive will! I'm so sorry we've been slacking on posting, guys. We're really trying to get this blog on a constant roll. It's just taking us awhile.

In other news, July Camp NaNoWriMo is just around the corner! I'll be gone for a whole week, so that may take away from my writing and planning time, but I think I'll be able to handle it. I think I'm going to re-write the novel I wrote back in November. Y'know, shape it up, flatten it out, put in chapter breaks.

Are any of you guys doing Camp? If so, leave a comment telling us about it! Are you nervous, scared? Do you have that "I can do this, no problem!" attitude? Do you even know what you're going to be writing?

And if you're not doing Camp, I suggest you sign up!

That's all from me today, guys. Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you July 1st! :)

Long Exposure

Hello there everybody. Olive here :)  I'm sorry I haven't posted recently, I shall make it up to you this week, I promise. I'll be posting everyday this week minus the weekend and Wednesday! Hopefully I will be able to do it successfully!

Lately it's been raining, which is disappointing because Saturday I was supposed to have a pool party, but it didn't work out. But my parents and my sister and I have started watching Downton Abby which is a very lovely show, I encourage you all to watch it.

Another thing I did last week, was take this image:

(black truck)

I have no idea how I got this. You see, Thursday or Friday afternoon it was raining, and so my family (minus my mom) went outside (to wait for my mom) and enjoyed the rain. For those of you who don't know me, I've been trying to get pictures of rain since the moment I started photography (roughly three years ago). So far no success, but there are some pretty cool things you can take that involve RAINDROPS.

Like this image:

Now before I change subjects, let me go back to explaining my first image. It was taken due to this fancy title called: long exposure. You can do some really cool things with it. Like this:

yes i know this isn't that cool but  it's an example!
Yes, the swing is moving. Long exposure, basically captures moving things very quickly, and blurs them. At least I think that's what it's supposed to do...

Long-exposure photography or time-exposure photography involves using a long-duration shutter speed to sharply capture the stationary elements of images while blurring, smearing, or obscuring the moving elements. The paths of moving light sources become clearly visible.

There you are, a definition thanks to Wikipedia! Due to getting the very first image (yes I'm still talking about that) I tried to get a couple more by going inside and making my sister model for me. Unfortunately I failed because something funny happened to my camera and I freaked out. I guessed that it had something to do with the lighting, and so I took my sister and went outside to our neighborhood park/clearing. Once outside I realized that I had guessed correctly. I had Googled long exposure before I had left the house, so I had an idea as to why my camera freaked out on me.*

I managed to get a couple good images, thanks to Google, and my sister being a pro at doing what I say (at least when it comes to photography)!

Well that's it till tomorrow!

What I've Been Doing Lately!

Hey guys! Cos here. I know I said we'd be back soon. And we are! It's just... taking us longer than we thought. One of the main things was we thought Camp NaNoWriMo was in June. It's actually in July. >.<

I decided to post today and let you guys know what I've done lately!

Well, I got out of school on the 31st, and that means it's only day six into summer vacation! I'm already bored. But I'm going to try and do ALL the things this summer! I'm planning on crocheting more, knitting more, learning more ukulele songs, learning the guitar, learning French, and learning how to draw better, among other things!

I don't know if I told you guys this (I did on my other blog though), but I bought myself a ukulele! I named him D'Artagnan. :) I'ts going really well, and I'm proud of myself for not giving up. I also crocheted a jellyfish for my friend who was graduating high school! I didn't get any pictures though. :( The pattern I used is here if you would like to make it as well! (I would absolutely love to see pictures if you guys did make one! Send them to our email random_bloggers43(at)yahoo(dot)com)

I'm also making more progress on my scarves! If you didn't already know, back in December I think it was, my brother, two of our friends, and I created accounts on Pottermore and took the House quiz! My brother got Ravenclaw, I got Hufflepuff (we're particularly good finders), and our friends got Gryffindor and Slytherin! I had just begun to learn how to crochet at the time, so I told them that I would make us all house scarves. I'm almost done with Gryffindor!

To be honest, I have been procrastinating an awful lot.

When I was younger, I expressed an interest in playing guitar, so my uncle bought me one. I never used it, and I still feel bad. So, this summer, I'm planning on learning how to play! I did pretty well with the ukulele, so I think I'll be able to get guitar down. :)

As for French, why not? I'm using a site called Duolingo, and it's really cool! I'm learning a lot, and it's really simple and user friendly!

THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS I WANT TO DRAW BUT I SUCK AT DRAWING SO I WANT TO GET BETTER.

I also want to read a lot more this summer. Because I've got the time. :)

Are any of you on summer vacation right now? Do you still have school, or are you out of school entirely? What are some things you've always wanted to do/learn? I look forward to reading what you guys have to say in the comments! :)

DFTBA,
-Costello

I'M SUCH A LIAR UGH

I'm sorry guys. I promised I'd post those things, and I didn't.

But, hey, at least Olive's back! :D *throws pie at Olive*

She posted a few days ago, getting this blogging ball rolling. I'm going to be starting summer vacation very soon, so there will be a lot more time to blog.

This used to be the funnest thing for us, and then we kinda just fell out of it, and we apologize. I'm sure we've got a lot in store for you guys in the near future, which includes (but is not limited to) MOAR WRITING, MOAR PICTURES, MOAR GUEST POSTS!! :D

And such. To give you guys a sneak peek at what you'll be seeing, here's a poem I wrote and a picture I took! (Yes I still kinda take pictures.)

i hear the wind
rustling between the leaves of the tree
just outside my window
the sound is muffled;
i lie under the sanctuary of my blankets
locking in my warmth
i long to open the window
to listen to the song the leaves and branches make
to hear them whisper their secrets to me
though i have many covers
if i dare open that window
the words i once thought were so beautiful
the words that are actually so cold
would seep through my body
removing my heat
chilling my bones(astheyalways do)
in the dead
of winter

(this is the Lego Gandalf keychain my friend got me for my birthday :D)

I love you guys, seriously. Thank you for checking out our blog. It means a lot, really. Like I always say, feel free to comment or email us (random_bloggers43@yahoo.com) about anything!

Ah, it's good to be back. :)

Update.

Hi guys. *waves* Olive here again. I know, it's been one post and you're already tired of me. Well deal. I'm here for the summer (and hopefully the rest of the year) to torture you all with images you don't care about and words you care even less about, which equals: you don't. Either way, I thought I'd stop by today, and give you all an update. I suppose only about me, for I only know so much about Cossy's busy school career, which is apparently a bit boring. Who knew!

ANY-ways, since the last time I posted, which was....*checks*  October seventh! And if I remember correctly, that is around an important day, but I can't remember what the day was...I think one of my siblings was born...eep.

Since October, a sibling was indeed born. A girl, if you must ask. We *cough(actually my parents did I had no role in it)cough* named her Pond. Not really, but for security reasons, we will call her POND. Why? I just finished Doctor Who, Season 7 PART ONE. It was ....in one word...amazinglybrilliant, of course, the last episode was a bit rough. They ended it poorly, me thinks. They did have a good way of saying goodbye, but a warning next time would have been nice.

Not saying I didn't know the Ponds were going to leave us all behind, I did in fact know, I just didn't expect something as *dramatic* as that. Anyways, don't let my upset-can't-believe-they-actually-left self ruin the season for you! Let me get back to updating -

Besides my sister joining us in this eventful world, I also published (self thank you) another poetry collection of sorts. Just came in the mail in fact. Turned out beautiful. I also printed out a butt load of my images, and stuffed them into my portfolio, completely and utterly out of order. I also read a collection of books, including My Sister Keeper, the Delirium sequel, and annoying little series that made me want to rip it in half. I won't give out any names, but I say, beware of Greek myths put into modern times, they are horrible and I do not agree with them. Though, I did like a couple of the characters...just not the main one. Sort of how it turned out with Twilight...but that's another story! And one I will not be telling!

I also started a brand new blog, due to the fact that my old one is attached to an email I can't get into. And I would like to forget it. So...I'll added a little link to the side bar when that's up an running for you all. Not that you lovely people care. And now here is a treat: A picture that is on my poetry collection cover.

Till tomorrow arrives

Ollo~

Hello there, Olive here. Long time no...post? Anyways. Here are some pictures to make up for it!

These were all taken like two years ago, but they still look lovely, so here you are:

I Won't Give Up.

I refuse to give up on this blog. I know I've been terrible at posting. I can't tell you guys how sorry I am. This blog means a lot to me, and it's kind of hard to keep running all by myself, but Olive and I are working things out.

I don't know. Things are changing in my life. I haven't taken a picture since perhaps August of last year. I'm just letting go of the things I used to love doing and doing other things. I know there were some people that liked this blog. I can't imagine why, but you did. I've been a pretty crappy blog owner, and I swear on Freddie Mercury's mustache that I will turn things around. I've actually got two posts that I could be writing right now, but I'm procrastinating and I need to stop.

I'll put up the posts next week, I promise. I think you'll like them. And, as always, if you want to guest post, just send me an email! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, like I said. Send me an email! You will always get a response, at the latest being a day or so.

I'm sorry for not doing a very good job with this, guys. I'll do my best to turn it around.

See you soon!

-Costello

Oh, Goodness!

I'm so sorry guys! It's been so long since we've posted! I'm so sorry. I've been a bit busy, and if you follow us on Twitter, you would have seen (probably) that Olive isn't with us anymore. She's gone through a few things, and now she can't blog anymore. I'm still working with her on a way for her to still blog, but it's taking a while.

But never fear, for Costello is still here! I'm going to tide you guys over with a short story I wrote awhile back. Enjoy! Or not. You know. Whatever.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a lonely, quiet, grey day when he came. I wasn’t expecting it at all. I had woken up in my normal way, gotten dressed and fed the turtle the same way as all the other days before. I guess what was special about today was that it was Christmas here in London.

I was alone in my flat this year. All of my family had gone to Prague, leaving me here because I couldn’t afford it. I had no significant other, and no friends or other family here. I had moved from Bath to London just after I finished high school and was about to start college.

I decided to go out for coffee. I don’t know what pushed me to do it, but something in the air told me that I would like a nice Christmas-y themed frothy drink from Starbucks.

As I was walking out of the coffee shop, I looked at the corner and saw a man in a brown suit leaning against a blue box. Our eyes caught, and I dropped my coffee. He winked and walked into the TARDIS, leaving it slightly open.

I had nothing to do today. So why not travel with a 900-year-old alien?

I ran towards the box, a huge smile on my face. I made it just in time to hear the TARDIS make its signature sounds.

It’s going to be a good day, I thought to myself.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because who doesn't love a bit of Doctor Who, eh? I'm going to be working on a few posts the rest of this week, and most likely post them next week. Sorry for such a delay! Thanks for being patient!

Thanks, Guys.

So, no one entered our contest. Thanks.

Oh well. YOU GUYS MISSED OUT ON THE AWESOME PRIZES.

Sorry we haven't been blogging lately. Our Olive isn't going to be around as much, some stuff happened that I won't go into detail with, but I think I'll be running the show for a while here now.

We've been busy. School and such. Plus! NaNoWriMo! It's currently day fifteen, at the halfway point! I'm at 16.5k, which is rather far behind. See what missing one day of writing does to you? :(

So after November, I'm sure I'll be posting a lot more, and since I moved, and I found the batteries for my camera, I'll be taking more pictures of new landscape things!

But I've got to go, more writing to do.

P.S., Are you doing NaNo? Leave a comment on how you're doing, what your wordcount is, what you're writing about, etc.

Oh, and if you want to do a guest post about what NaNoWriMo means to you and what your best ways to get through it are, or something like that, email me at random_bloggers43(at)yahoo(dot)com!

Happy Writing!

It's that time of year again...

It's almost winter time! Sort of...

First comes fall of course. And with the change of the leaves I bring you a contest. To be more specific a photography contest.

Theme: the best picture you think personifies autumn; trees, people, scarves, pumpkins, ect. and/or anything that presents winter.

Deadline: Halloween (a costume could be an interesting photo), October 31, 2012

Rules: No inappropriate images please, one submission per person, and of course, no images sent after the 31st.

Prize: guest post, a poem, (possibly badly) drawn picture draw by Cossy or me, a short story (written by Cossy or me), a photo of anything you wish (maybe something we've already posted here? We are willing to ship copies of pictures if you are willing), and anything else you wonderful people can think of.

I realize that our last contest kind of...failed. BUT, I think that this one will be more...oh what's the word...better? Eh. Either way, Cossy and I are a bit excited about this, and look forward to what you guys submit! So please, submit away!

-submit to our email - random_bloggers43(at)yahoo(dot)com
-put in the title - October Photo Submission - please.
